It is called Copper Crocodile because it breeds in the rainy season (November – March) when the river water in the estuary becomes very cloudy like copper and builds a nest consisting of plants and clods of soil.

Distribution:
It can be found in several habitats in Southeast Asia.


Habitat:

Usually spends the tropical rainy season in rivers and freshwater marshes, returning upstream to kuala in the dry season, and sometimes moving far out to sea.


Diet: 

Capable of catching animals as large as buffalo, either in water or on land. Baby crocodiles will eat smaller animals such as insects, amphibians, crustaceans, small reptiles and fish.
